Owner and chef Alexander Andrade or ‘Al’ as everyone calls him is no stranger to the restaurant world. He comes from a long line of culinary entrepreneurs. When he considered starting his own eatery he chose something casual and fun with a down home vibe smack dab in the middle of Downtown Lafayette and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and named it Rusted Rooster.
Rusted Rooster serves up comfort food with a fresh southern feel. If you ask Al what type of food he serves he’ll likely say, “Really good fried chicken and my grandmother’s biscuits with badass toppings.”
The rustic, laid back joint serves breakfast from 7:00 – 10:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on weekdays only because they love their families and their weekends.
Every now and again they get a wild hair and open on a Saturday for a special occasion so be sure to keep up with them on social media.
What started out as one man’s mission to open a neighborhood eatery has truly become a community affair.
